Within the last year, Lankenau Hospital, which is part of the Main Line Health system located near Philadelphia, has been recognized nationally as a top facility in many areas, including stroke care and gastrointestinal and general surgeries. Last September, the entire Main Line system also was named as a "Best Place to Work" on a local, state and national level.
In keeping with the theme of top employees, 49 doctors in the Main Line system were recognized as "Top Doctors" Philadelphia Magazine this past May. Of those 49, 23 were based at Lankenau Hospital, including Dr. Maribel Hernandez, a cardiac electrophysiologist who graced the magazine's cover.
Over a five-month span from August 2009 to January 2010, Lankenau received certification for both a kidney transplant program and as a life-saving heart facility.
