Study: Parents participate in kids' hospital care
A new study suggests that most parents participate in medical decisions made about their children while the children are hospitalized. The study, which surveyed 130 parents, found that 86 percent of American parents get involved in care decision-making. Those parents whose children had been previously hospitalized were more likely to speak up, researchers found. The study didn't directly address whether participation could have positive impact outcomes, but researchers strongly suspect that it does, given the increasing complexity of such care.
