Study: Employers want more CDHP data

Large employers are increasingly embracing CDHPs (though employees aren't quite as enthusiastic). The problem is, the employers aren't happy with the level of data they're getting on the quality and cost data they're getting on providers working through CDHPs.

In a recent study conducted by The RAND Corporation and employee benefits consultant Watson Wyatt Worldwide, only 5 percent of employers said they were getting good or excellent cost data on providers from their contracted health plans. However, 10 percent did say the quality of care provided through CDHPs was good. The employers' biggest challenge, however, is apparently not clinical. Virtually all (90 percent) said employee communication is the greatest challenge they face in adopting CDHPs.
