SPOTLIGHT: Physicians battling Internet misinformation

Without a doubt, there are now hundreds of reputable sources of medical information available on the Internet and via subscription emails. The problem is, mixed in with that flood of good information is a great deal of misinformation, as one gynecologist found when he began hearing from women who were relying unduly on a common screening for ovarian cancer. Increasingly, physicians are having to deal with not only patients overwhelmed with an overload of good sources, but also those deceived by rumors and misunderstandings. Article (sub. req.)
