NC 'battle of the beds' continues

Despite the withering economic climate, hospitals continue to fight over the right to expand. One case of this is taking place in Holly Springs, NC, where Novant Health is fighting to get permission from the state's Certificate of Need Office to build a community hospital.  Right now, executives are angry that a competitor, hospital chain WakeMed, was already awarded rights to create 41 acute-care beds and four operating rooms that Novant wanted for its planed hospital.
