SPOTLIGHT: Life expectancy up for U.S.

Despite increases in mortality for some conditions, life expectancy in the U.S. has reached a new high of 77.9 years in 2005.  While mortality rates for respiratory disease, accident, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease increased in 2005, mortality for heart disease, cancer and stroke decreased.
