SPOTLIGHT: How health IT group helped push IT investment in stimulus

For anyone who works on the health IT side of the profession, it's hard to miss the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a large, powerful trade group that throws the biggest health IT conference of the year each year. What you may not know, however, is that HIMSS also played a big role in seeing to it that the stimulus package included generous funding for IT spending. The Washington Post describes HIMSS as having used the political opening made by the poor economy to create a "political and financial windfall" for its members.
