FL leads nation in imaging

At least where Medicare beneficiaries were concerned, it appears that Floridians were the U.S. champs for medical imaging in 2006. A new report from the GAO found that for that year, Florida Medicare beneficiaries accounted for $472 per enrollee in in-office imaging, more than any other state. Looked at another way, Florida Medicare members each averaged three imaging tests in 2005, compared with about two per person nationally. Much of the growth has come from testing done in the offices of non-radiologists whose facilities weren't set up strictly as testing centers. Article
