An Australian doctor has proposed that his country pay $47,000 for kidney donations to help fight an ongoing shortage. Kidney specialist Gavin Carney says would save thousands of lives and billions of dollars in care for patients on transplant waiting lists. Opponents of the proposal, meanwhile, say that it would result in the poor selling their organs to the rich. Article
