SPOTLIGHT: Atlanta hospital building health "super centers"
Originally, officials at Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital had intended to close two of its three neighborhood health centers, a move that would have saved the struggling facility $1.5 million. However, the hospital has changed its plans dramatically. Now, Grady execs plan to launch a multi million-dollar set of four community health "super centers," offering not only core primary care services, but also specialties such as cardiovascular, orthopedic and obstetrical care. "We're trying to break out of the class-warfare delivery of health care--where the rich go to glass buildings and the poor go to dilapidated clinics," CEO Michael Young told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
