A new survey suggests that size and trustworthiness of the company are key factors when physicians choose a medical billing firm. Other factors that matter to physicians include that the billing company specialize in the practice's area of expertise, and that the company be aggressive enough to go after not only the easy-to-collect bills but also more complex, challenging receivables. They also stressed that a billing company should provide easy-to-understand reports which can be used to manage the practice efficiently.

To conduct the study, researchers conducting the study, by HealthPro Medical Billing, spoke with 10 physicians, including specialists, medical directors and CEOs of physician practice groups. While this is a pretty small group for a research study, the results are still food for thought.
