Resurrection Health settles union-busting complaint
Chicago-area hospital operator Resurrection Health Care has been found by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to have stifled union organizing activities, and to settle those charges, has agreed to make extra efforts to inform workers of their right to unionize. The union seeking to organize Resurrection workers, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, filed charges with the NLRB complaining that the hospital was actively discouraging employees from expressing support for unionization. According to the union, Resurrection managers barred workers from distributing union fliers and interrogated union activists. In addition, a security guard threatened an off-duty employee who was wearing a pro-union t-shirt, the union said. Resurrection will now place notices at hospitals where problems occurred stating that it will not interfere with workers' rights under the National Labor Relations Act.
