Report: Psychology practice threatened by corporate funding
A new report from an American Psychological Association task force contends that accepting corporate funding for its activities can compromise psychological research and practice. The report, which looked at research, media reports and other sources to examine corporate influence, recommends that any psychology-sponsored presentation, publication, electronic mailing list or public-policy participant should disclose any financial conflicts of interest. Also, it suggests that psychologists should be discouraged from accepting even modest gifts from pharmas. In addition, the task force recommended that the APA itself should set limits on its dealings with pharmaceutical companies and other corporate entities.
