Police want more charges for doc who sexually assaulted patients

Police in Wisconsin have asked prosecutors to add two additional assault counts to a case against a former Marshfield Clinic physician already charged with four counts of felony sexual assault of sedated patients.

A Marshfield, Wis., police report to the Wood County district attorney's office says that the request for new charges against Dr. Kevin Lang, a gastroenterologist, are related to an unspecified March 13, 2009, incident at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, according to WISinfo.com. That was the same day a patient complained to Marshfield Clinic that Lang, 47, had "sexually touched" her during a post-operative visit to the hospital. The news service was unable to confirm whether the new allegations are related to that incident.

Lang, who is free on $25,000 bond, reportedly admitted to touching a woman on March 13 after she complained to officials at both the hospital and the clinic and also confessed to a 2003 incident. He has been forced to resign from Marshfield Clinic and has had his medical license temporarily suspended by the state's Medical Examining Board, pending a hearing next month.
