Pentagon plans to raise military healthcare premiums

The Pentagon is going after TriCare, the program that provides coverage for military dependents and retirees, to reduce military spending. The premiums--which haven't changed in 16 years--are a fraction of those in the private sector, the deductibles are low and co-pays are limited, reports the Washington Post. So, Defense Secretary Robert Gates is proposing to raise premiums for 586,000 retirees of working age by $2.50 a month for individuals, and $5 a month for families. Article
