Partnership hopes to improve minority healthcare

HHS and the National Business Group on Health are partnering in a two-year project designed to cut racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare. The partnership, which is getting initial funding of $900,000 from the HHS Office of Minority Health, hopes to foster alliances between business, medicine and public health organizations to boost the care given to racial and ethnic minority groups. The effort includes a disparities advisory board which will identify best practices for reducing disparities in workforces, as well as creating a toolkit to help employers set those best practices in motion. The workplace initiative has an influential supporter in the National Business Group on Health, which works primarily with Fortune 500 companies to help them manage health and benefit-related issues.
