New York City's richer private hospitals must do a better job of caring for the city's uninsured population, a state health official warned, according to the New York Daily News. Ram Raju, president of New York's Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), said at a Citizens Budget Commission event that HHC, which runs New York's public hospitals, could not shoulder the costs of the uninsured on its own. "They're going to come walk into your hospital. They'll be forced to use your monogrammed towels and they're going to use your water fountains with golden faucets," Raju said.
