NYC hospitals avoid layoffs
Yesterday we told you that healthcare is likely to break its own 10 year record for mass layoffs this year, but apparently some hospitals are avoiding layoffs in these troubled times.
In New York City, hospitals are trying to weather this time without any major layoffs, and so far they seem to be succeeding. In fact, they are doing so well that together with schools, they are making the private sector in the city more and more non-profit. Which isn't good for the city budget.
The question is, are NYC hospitals a random exception to the mass layoffs around the rest of the country? Or are they doing something better than their peers?
