Nurses under-appreciated for their work, Brits say

A new poll reveals that nearly 60 percent of British consumers believe nurses don't receive enough appreciation for the work they do, according to the Nursing Times. The results of the poll were announced as part of a campaign that encourages people to thank nurses for their work. The Moments of Thanks campaign hopes to gather "1,000 thank yous" from patients who have received care and support of nurses, the article said. "This isn't about celebrating clinical excellence, it's about celebrating those precious moments of connection that can make all the difference to a hospital experience such as a reassuring hand on the shoulder or a well-timed chat," Steve Charlton, chief executive of Cavell Nurses' Trust, told the publication.
