Robert McDonald, the new Veterans Affairs secretary, visited the Phoenix VA hospital for the first time since taking over the agency. The facility is the location where it was first revealed that VA facilities nationwide used secret waitlists to cover up care delays that may have led to patient deaths. McDonald, the former CEO of Procter & Gamble, told the Associated Press that his visit to the Phoenix facility is the first of many hospitals he plans to tour over the next few weeks. He also held up a button with the acronym ICARE that employees will now wear. The acronym stands for integrity, commitment, advocacy and respect. "We're going to look at everything we do from the lens of the veterans. Not from the lens of Veterans Affairs," he told the news outlet. Article
