Mayo partners with another hospital in affiliation sweep

In a continued move to affiliate with other healthcare organizations, Mayo Clinic on Monday announced it is adding Kingman (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center (KRMC) as its second affiliated partner to the Mayo Clinic Care Network, according to a Mayo press release. Last month, Mayo announced Altru Health System, based in North Dakota, as the first member.

The Mayo Clinic Care Network and its relationship with KRMC and Altru Health are "non-ownership relationships and is a network of like-minded organizations," according to the press release.

Mayo and KRMC have been collaborating on telestroke and grand rounds for the past four years. The partnership will continue to build on sharing resources. For example, patients will be able to access Mayo expertise but not necessarily have to travel to a Mayo Clinic facility.

"Mayo Clinic has long enjoyed collaborative relationships with hospitals, group practices, and providers around the world. By developing formal connections with high-quality, culturally aligned practices, the Mayo Clinic Care Network takes these natural collaborations even further," said Dr. David Hayes, medical director of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

In addition to hospital partnerships, Mayo Clinic, along with Cleveland Clinic, recently announced they are separately ramping up their campaigns to associate with medium- to large-sized physician practices. In return, the practices can use the leading hospitals' names and resources in exchange for subscription fees.
