Johns Hopkins All Children's CEO touts clinician leaders, investments

As part of All Children's Hospital's full integration with Johns Hopkins Medicine, the hospital has embraced clinician leadership and investments in transnational research, CEO Jonathan Ellen, M.D., told Hospitals & Health Networks. In addition to creating a new pediatric residency program that focuses on value-based, family-centered care delivery, the hospital, now known as Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, is constructing a 225,000-square-foot research facility. However, challenges remain within the childcare field, he said, particularly a shortage of pediatric specialists. "It's not so much that pediatricians are not interested in caring for kids, but finding those that have highly specialized training and having them come to your organization--that's always challenging," he said.
