Hospital system launches its own cable channel

North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, along with telecommunications company Cablevision Systems Corporation, on Thursday announced its own cable TV channel to feature information on health and wellness and about the system's facilities. As the first New York-area healthcare provider to establish its own channel, the video-on-demand channel called North Shore-LIJ Health TV could reach up to three million digital cable customers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, according to a press release.

"We view this as another important avenue to communicate vital health and wellness information to people who use our services or who need reliable information about a full spectrum of medical conditions," said Michael Dowling, president and CEO of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. Press release
