HHS launches national video contest to promote healthcare reform

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is spending $30,000 on prizes for a national video contest, designed to appeal to the healthy young adults who are critical to the success of the Affordable Care Act, Kaiser Health News reports. HHS hopes to tap into the creativity of the generation to get young adults to market healthcare reform to themselves. "We're encouraging folks to create a song, or a graphic, or a video about the law's benefits," HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said. "Like staying on their parent's plan until they're 26, not being denied coverage because of a pre-existing health condition." The contest also will allow people to vote online and then a grand prize winner will be selected after "a final round of voting and judging." Top prize is $6,500 and the first 100 entrants will receive a "Stay Healthy" kit, which includes a t-shirt, first aid kit, sun protection kit and water bottle. Article
