Fired execs seek severance from Steward

Two fired executives from Quincy Medical Center are seeking severance of $600,000 after Steward Health Care acquired the bankrupt hospital, reported the Patriot Ledger. The for-profit Massachusetts health system's acquisition of Quincy Medical for $38 million was finalized last fall. Apurv Gupta, the hospital's former senior vice president for clinical affairs and chief medical officer, and Victor Munger, former senior vice president of human resources, say that Steward said it would retain all employees, and Gupta and Munger continued to work for Quincy Medical during the transition. The fired executives say they are entitled to six to 12 months of salary if they were terminated for any reason other than for cause. Steward did not comment on why the Quincy Medical executives were fired, according to the article. Article
