Cleveland Clinic names first chief experience officer

The Cleveland Clinic has named an internal medicine physician and consultant as its first chief experience officer, an increasingly popular executive role popping up at large medical organizations across the U.S.. M. Bridget Duffy, M.D. is filling the new position, which will run the Clinic's Patient First Initiative. Her job will be to create a culture which fosters empathy and rewards employees for delivering outstanding patient experiences. The chief experience officer role isn't unique to healthcare by any means, but expect to see it gain momentum within the industry as retail-level services become more important. With influential institutions like Cleveland Clinic jumping on board, it's only a matter of time before smaller players take the hint.
