Cited Dallas hospitals work with CMS to maintain funding

Recent scrutiny on patient safety at Dallas hospitals has shown that hospitals can, in fact, risk their federal funding, as is the case with Parkland Memorial Hospital, which the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on Friday said no longer qualifies for funding "because of deficiencies that represent an immediate and serious threat to patient health and safety," reports Dallas Morning News. With its Medicare agreement to be terminated on Sept. 30, Parkland compromised with CMS by agreeing to a systems improvement arrangement, in which CMS-approved consultants would oversee hospital improvements, according to the article.

Meanwhile, Methodist Dallas Medical Center on Thursday submitted a corrective action plan to CMS to ensure the $200 million in reimbursements it receives each year, reports Dallas Business Journal Morning Call.
