The American Hospital Association's new white paper looks at how the bedside care team role will transform as healthcare systems change. Among its conclusions: Hospitals must ensure current and future clinicians receive education and training on the importance of inter-professional teamwork; meet with stakeholders to discuss reducing the number and types of team members at the bedside and simplify processes; analyze how to best use technology; consider patient/family needs; and focus on the role of the acute care hospital as an entry, midpoint or endpoint to the clinical experience.
