A global settlement for Tenet?

Tenet's decision to resolve the Alvarado Medical Center case clears the way for a global settlement for the company. Some observers think such an agreement could end up costing Tenet as much as $2 billion. The San Diego Union-Tribune talks to Deutsche Bank analyst Darren Lehrich, who notes that the company still faces an inquiry over Medicare outlier payments. "The Alvarado settlement is important in that it brings closure, but a global settlement will really put all of Tenet's issues with the government behind them."
