20 arrested during union rally at UPMC

At least 20 protesters were arrested Wednesday during a Service Employees International Union-organized demonstration in front of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) headquarters, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The rally, held at the end of a police-escorted march along Sixth Avenue, was in response to wage disputes and recent layoffs. UPMC employees also told the newspaper that the system cut employee hours and forced some staff to reapply for their jobs. Six protesters were also cited for trespassing for a sit-in inside the Aiken Medical Building, according to the Post-Gazette. Article
