The New York State Department of Health has issued its first in what will be annual reports on hospital infection rates. The report, which is mandated by a 2005 law, found that the state's hospitals have lower rates of central-line infections in pediatric and coronary intensive-care units than average, but higher infection rates in surgical intensive care units.
