Vital Connect, Inc. (VCI), a growing biosensor technology company, today announced that prominent cardiologist Neal White, MD, FACC, has joined its Medical Advisory Board.

Dr. Neal White is the heart failure medical director for John Muir Health. At John Muir, he directs a variety of programs surrounding heart failure and coordinates strategies to reduce heart failure readmissions, where they received a national better-than-expected rating for readmissions from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Dr. White is a practicing interventional cardiologist with Cardiovascular Consultants Medical Group (CCMG), located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, which is affiliated with a physician network and medical foundation sponsored by Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Dr. White serves on the executive committee of the American College of Cardiology's H2H (Hospital to Home) initiative, a national quality improvement program working to reduce cardiovascular related hospital re-admissions and improve the transition of patients after hospitalizations for cardiovascular disease.

“We are pleased Dr. White has joined Vital Connect’s advisory team,” said Vital Connect Chairman and CEO Dr. Nersi Nazari. Dr. Nazari said Dr. White’s expertise in cardiovascular medicine and his extensive experience in developing programs to reduce hospital readmissions will significantly bolster Vital Connect’s efforts to address the global healthcare crisis. Applying breakthrough technology to reduce readmissions, which carries $25 billion dollars in preventable costs annually in the United States alone, is a key focus for our company.

“I am honored to join the team at Vital Connect, Inc.,” said Dr. Neal White. “I am passionate about heart failure and reducing cardiovascular-related readmissions, and I am especially excited to help Vital Connect develop wireless biosensor technology that can be a bridge between patients, families and health care providers to monitor, detect, diagnosis and ultimately aid in directing treatment of cardiovascular disease – all with the goal of reducing healthcare costs while improving patient outcomes.”

Dr. White has been involved in a variety of research over his career receiving grants and support from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as well as the American Heart Association (AHA) and a national research service award from the National Institute of Health (NIH). He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) as well as a member of numerous professional organizations and advisory boards. As a leader in his field, Dr. White is frequently called upon to advise corporations and startups and has lectured extensively around the world on many aspects of cardiovascular disease. He has been involved with startups and early-stage companies developing cardiovascular catheter-based imaging, diagnostics and therapeutic devices.
