Stanford Hospital Once Again Ranked One of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report

Stanford Health Care’s renowned Stanford Hospital has once again been ranked one of the nation’s best hospitals by earning national top tier rankings in 12 of 16 medical specialties for 2014-15. The magazine also ranked Stanford Hospital as one of the top two hospitals in California and the best in its metropolitan area.

For 2014-15, evaluated hospitals in 16 adult specialties and ranked the top 50 in most of the specialties. Just 3 percent of the nearly 5,000 hospitals that were analyzed for Best Hospitals 2014-15 earned national ranking in even one specialty. Stanford was ranked among the nation’s very best hospitals in: cancer; cardiology & heart surgery; ear, nose & throat; gastroenterology & GI surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology & neurosurgery; orthopaedics; pulmonology; rheumatology; and urology.

The Best Hospitals survey also ranks America’s children’s hospitals and their programs. In June, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford received the highest specialty rankings of any children’s hospital in Northern California

The rankings are available at and will appear in the U.S. News “Best Hospitals 2015” guidebook, available in August.
