New board member’s experience in oncology services supports ProCure’s mission
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ProCure Treatment Centers, Inc. (ProCure) today announced that seasoned healthcare executive David S. Chernow has been named to its Board of Directors. Chernow, 54, has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare sector steering oncology services organizations.
Chernow currently serves as president and chief development and strategy officer for Select Medical, a leading provider of specialized healthcare in long-term acute care and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings. He previously served as president and chief strategy officer with Select Medical, and has held leadership roles with Oncure Medical Corp., Junior Achievement Worldwide, and US Oncology. In 1992, he also co-founded and subsequently led American Oncology Resources until it merged with Physician Reliance Network, Inc.
“David has spent his entire career helping build exceptional healthcare organizations,” said Hadley Ford, chief executive officer of ProCure. “With centers open in Chicago and Oklahoma City, one about to open in New Jersey and others in development, we will benefit from David’s expertise as we continue to expand this already robust network. His extensive background in oncology is a welcome addition to the board.”
“Improving cancer care is my passion,” said Chernow, a 30-year cancer survivor. “I’m fortunate and I know it. I had testicular cancer, one of the cancers for which they developed a cure. As a result, I am alive today. And with the evolving state of proton therapy, more lives will be saved and cancer care will be greatly enhanced. I am therefore committed to helping an already innovative organization like ProCure to further improve its quality of care. Working together, we can enhance cancer care in this country.”
