Capabilities Enhance Spine Clinician Support for Improving Quality Care

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Precedent Health, a healthcare company focused on aligning physicians, hospitals and payers by building innovative provider networks, today announced the acquisition of DOC Holdings, a spine research company focused on providing comprehensive intraoperative monitoring solutions.

Precedent Health will leverage this acquisition to increase their presence in the spine industry and will use these added resources to formally launch a new division, Precedent Spine Health.

Glen Marconcini, CEO of Precedent Health, had the following comment, “Having intraoperative monitoring capabilities to offer our hospital and clinician partners are another important step in providing a complement of solutions to improve safety and measure results. Precedent Health believes this is a strong fit that will support our company’s vision of preparing physicians and hospitals for changes associated with healthcare reform.”

Effective immediately, Christina Cook, PhD, will be joining Precedent Health and leading this new spine-focused initiative. Dr. Cook has enjoyed a long, successful career as a researcher, industry executive and healthcare entrepreneur. During the past several years, she has focused on the spine industry and has worked on multiple research projects to further the science of spine surgery. Dr. Cook commented, “My recent focus has been partnering with spine clinicians to offer ways to research, document and improve spine surgeries. Intraoperative monitoring is an important tool that can benefit many clinicians. Joining the Precedent Health organization will allow my team to even better support the doctors we are passionate about helping to improve patient care.”

Precedent Health has assembled a strong leadership team with a blend of skills in multiple areas of healthcare – and a great track record of working with and helping physicians. The company has crafted strategies to offer complementary approaches that work together to change the way physicians, hospitals and payers deliver healthcare to patients. Adding the team and resources of DOC gives Precedent Health immediate new scope and opportunity. Over the past 2 years, DOC has built a strong national business by supporting over 6,000 customers in more than 35 states. This track record and established relationships with hospitals and spine surgeons will help Precedent Health to grow faster by immediately adding more infrastructure and increased services.
