Kaiser Permanente Receives 4 Stars in Quality of Care and Member Satisfaction

For the fifth consecutive year, in California receives 4 stars — the highest possible — in overall quality of care and member satisfaction, according to the 2013 HMO Quality Report Card from the .

The annual HMO Quality Report Card gives California consumers side-by-side comparisons of the largest HMO health plans in the state, ranking them on several national quality-of-care and member care experience measures that have immediate and long-term implications on their health.

This year, Kaiser Permanente Southern California continues to maintain 4 stars in the “HMO Provides Recommended Care” category, which measures overall quality of care comprised of asthma and lung disease care, cancer screenings, diabetes care, heart care and maternity care, among other quality-of-care measures.

Kaiser Permanente Southern California continues to sustain 4 stars in the “Patients Rate Their HMO” category, which measures overall member satisfaction with their health plan.

Both Kaiser Permanente in Southern and Northern California earned 4 stars in these two categories, outperforming other California health plans in clinical quality as measured in the 2013 HMO Quality Report Card.
