GE Centricity® Practice Solution Continues GE’s March Toward 2011/2012 Certification

Integrated Solution the Latest in Centricity Family to Receive ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Complete EHR Certification from CCHIT

NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- GE Healthcare is pleased to announce that GE Centricity® Practice Solution version 9.5 is officially 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on October 13, 2010 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®). CCHIT made the designation in its capacity as an Office of the National Coordinator – Authorized Temporary Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) in accordance with the applicable eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 Meaningful Use measures required to qualify eligible providers for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The announcement came on the eve of this week’s annual meeting of the Medical Group Management Association in New Orleans.

Centricity Practice Solution is GE Healthcare’s fully integrated EMR and Practice Management system that is now certified to help qualifying eligible professionals demonstrate Meaningful Use. Leveraging the quality improvement and reporting capabilities that have long been part of GE’s Medical Quality Improvement Consortium (MQIC), Centricity Practice Solution customers will also continue to be at the forefront of quality benchmarking through access to powerful and convenient reporting for meaningful use, PQRI, NCQA and other incentive-driven reporting initiatives. Centricity Practice Solution customers will not only be ahead of the curve in tracking the clinical quality measures that are a key requirement of Meaningful Use, but also in using data to drive quality improvements for their patients.

“We believe this ONC-ATCB certification for Centricity Practice Solution is indicative of the commitment we made to maintain certification for our customers at the time of passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,” said Jim Corrigan, Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare IT. “In addition to being proud of this validation, we’re proud that our customers have been utilizing our quality improvement and reporting tools to enhance the quality of care they deliver for well over a decade long before Meaningful Use was first envisioned. GE Healthcare intends to continue certifying our EMR technologies as part of our dedication to help customers succeed in adopting this critical technology for their practices.”

“GE Healthcare created an EMR Meaningful Use Readiness self-assessment tool that was an invaluable asset in helping us critically analyze our workflows and transition to Centricity Practice Solution version 9.5 and, thus, be able to easily prepare for Meaningful Use,” said Alice Masciarelli, Administrator at Quantum Family Care in Denton, Texas.“GE Healthcare collaborates with us, the healthcare providers, and helps ensure that we have the tools we need to provide efficient, cost effective, quality care to our patient population. With Meaningful Use, GE Healthcare has exceeded our expectations by really going the extra mile for us and our patients.”

Additionally, the company announced it would host a webinar entitled “Beyond Meaningful Use with Centricity Practice Solution.” The program will feature a demonstration of Centricity Practice Solution with examples of how the Meaningful Use criteria can be achieved. The complimentary webinar will be Thursday, November 4, at 2pm ET. Registration can be completed at the following link:
