Oct. 25, 2010--Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is the only healthcare system in Southeast Michigan that will tell you not only how to get to the nearest DMC emergency room, but how long you will have to wait when you arrive. DMC has just released a free DroidTM application that posts real-time waiting times, phone numbers and driving directions from your current location to all DMC emergency rooms including, Children's Hospital of Michigan , Detroit Receiving Hospital , DMC Surgery Hospital , Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and Sinai-Grace Hospital .
In May of this year, DMC debuted its iPhoneTM app . Since then, the application has been downloaded over 1,000 times.
"If you or a loved one has an emergency, the last thing you want to do is wait. At the DMC, our ER physicians are ready and prepared to take care of any healthcare need. Each emergency department participates in DMC's 29 Minute Guarantee , which pledges that an emergency physician will begin evaluating a patient within 29 minutes of arrival.
Detroit Medical Center's emergency departments treat more than 300,000 patients annually. Three of the four top-level trauma centers in Wayne County are DMC hospitals. Nearly 60 percent of Michigan's emergency physicians were trained at DMC's Detroit Receiving Hospital, renowned as Michigan's first American College of Surgeons verified, Level I Trauma Center for treatment of severe injuries.

You can also text ‘ER' to 42660 and receive the current wait times on your standard mobile phone (standard rates apply). Emergency room wait times, maps and phone numbers can also be viewed online at www.dmc.org .
