Academic Medical Center Selects Prime-A-Pump to Build and Maintain Evidence-Based Drug Libraries

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Zynx Health Device Network, an entrepreneurial developer of clinical decision support for medical devices, today announced that Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston has selected Prime-A-Pump, a Web-based knowledge resource and collaboration tool for building and maintaining smart pump drug libraries, to help improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of patient care.

Prime-A-Pump provides guidance to healthcare professionals in configuring the safety limits within their pump drug library software, which can help prevent serious medication administration errors. Hospitals can review Prime-A-Pump’s continually updated clinical evidence and use its features to customize their drug library recommendations, discuss issues with multidisciplinary team members, vote on recommendations, and keep a detailed history of their library changes, all within their own secure online environment. Drug libraries can be customized by a single hospital and/or shared across multiple institutions.

“We are gratified that Brigham and Women’s Hospital has chosen Prime-A-Pump to support its efforts to improve the safety of patient care, and we are very excited about working with this leading healthcare organization,” says Nancy Greengold, MD, MBA, president of Zynx Health Device Network.

“Brigham and Women’s Hospital is committed to improving patient safety and using this type of technology will support our efforts to help eliminate IV infusion errors,” says Thomas Cooley, RPh, MBA, director of pharmacy informatics and support services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital uses the Alaris/CareFusion smart pump.

Developed by clinicians for clinicians, Prime-A-Pump uses an evidence- and experience-based methodology to provide practical guidance for configuring the safety limits within smart pump drug libraries. This innovative tool has been designed to save hospital personnel tremendous amounts of time in researching and updating their drug libraries, as well as in communicating and building consensus with colleagues.
