Uninsured rate hits eight-year low, Gallup says

A new Gallup poll puts the uninsured rate at 11 percent among U.S. adults, a figure it says is the lowest since 2008. The rate of uninsured adults has also dropped 6.1 percentage points since the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate took effect in the fourth quarter of 2013. Blacks and Hispanics, meanwhile, have experienced the greatest decrease in uninsured rates since the start of the individual mandate--though this partly reflects the high uninsured rates among these groups before the implementation of the ACA.
