Priority Health is recognizing more than 200 Michigan primary care practices with Priority Health Quality Awards. The award, established in 2003, identifies practices for delivering superior performance in clinical quality measures and patient satisfaction.
“These top-performing practices share Priority Health’s long-standing commitment to continuously improving the quality of care for patients,” said Michael P. Freed, president and CEO for Priority Health. “Our commitment to build strong partnerships with physicians has led us to create programs and services that far exceed the industry. As a result, patients in Michigan are more likely to get breast and colon cancer screenings and help managing their chronic diseases than anywhere else in the nation.”
Priority Health analyzes the highest performing practices within its network of 14,000 providers through its Partners in Performance Program. The program provides financial awards to primary care physicians who provide appropriate preventive care and screenings to patients to support delivery of prevention, high-quality and cost-effective care for patients.
Over 15 years, the company has paid out $150 million in support of primary care, over and above standard payment for services. Priority Health expects to pay physicians $24 million in 2012.
