Veterans using mobile devices for follow-up care

The Department of Veterans Affairs is now piloting a handheld device veterans can use to contact their primary-care providers. Veterans can use the software created by Orlando, Fla.-based Vertiglo, to communicate with clinicians through Apple's FaceTime chat platform. They also can store personal, military and family health information. VA officials say they're hoping that on the clinical side, the technology will help treat conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury, according to a Vertiglo statement. On the administrative side, it may help expedite the 23-page application paperwork veterans currently have to complete. Press release
