Baby Boomers see the benefit of mobile apps for chronic disease care

Smartphone-owning Baby Boomers are all about taking advantage of new technology for healthcare purposes, a recent survey has found. A poll conducted by East Lansing, Mich.-based Mitchell PR, a firm that helps companies market mobile apps to Baby Boomers, determined that more than 50 percent of respondents who own smartphones plan to purchase mobile health apps, particularly when pushed by a doctor to do so. Of 600 total respondents, 57 percent said they likely would download at least a general information app, while 48 percent said they were likely to download apps related to chronic conditions like heart disease or diabetes.
