Position Description

Neuro/Renal ICU Stepdown RN job in Texas. The Neuro/Renal ICU Stepdown unit is a 38 bed unit with approx 51 FTEs consisting of the Nurse Manager, 4 Assistant Nurse Managers, a Nurse Clinician and a staff of RNs, Patient Care Techs and Telemetry Techs. 7a-7p and 7p-7a shifts available. Staff work 3 – 12 hour shifts per week, rotating weekends, and they self schedule their shifts. Must have good computer skills – Meditech utilized. Salary starting between 43K-66K, the salary range is based on a 36 hour week and does not include any shift differentials – which are offered for working evenings, nights and weekends. These are new positions and were created due to increasing volume, not employee turnover. This is a Magnet hospital, Level III trauma center-currently applying for Level II designation-and a Primary Stroke Center. The Neuro/Renal ICU Stepdown RN manages the nursing care of critically ill patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Position assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs. Carries out physician orders. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs. Provides respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients. Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care. Current licensure as an RN. Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Minimum one year ICU Stepdown experience required.
