Position Description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Radiology, the Radiology Coordinator is responsible for the provision of ultrasound services to patients according to physicians’ orders. Provides for patient safety and high quality testing. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one, and to provide quality care in the position of Radiology Coordinator . Performs examinations of patients of various ages from pediatric to geriatric.

1. Performs ultrasound studies of acceptable technical quality to include OB/Gyn studies, abdominal and small parts.

2. Knowledge of ultrasound techniques to include general ultrasound, OB/GYN, neurologic, and vascular ultrasound.

3. Possesses specialized knowledge of sterile technique and its application in the department.

4. Insures patient safety and applies principles of ultrasound safety in the performance of position responsibilities.

5. Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include; answering phones, scheduling patient appointments in Meditech System, fax patient reports to physician offices and perform other associated clerical duties.

6. Takes call/covers holidays on a rotational basis.

7. Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills and displays appropriate behavior.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.





Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or equitable on the job training.



LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

REQUIRED: A.R.D.M.S. registered, or registry eligible.



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

PREFERRED: Previous experience in hospital environment preferred.



SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Must be able to demonstrate skills in general, obstetrics and gynecological, neurologic, and vascular ultrasound.

Perform ultrasound studies of acceptable quality. Cover rotational call schedule for Ultrasound. Ability to plan work and complete assignments in a timely manner without close supervision.
