Position Description

BE/BC Noninvasive Cardiologist needed in eastern North Carolina. The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences at a university and the school of medicine seeks a Director of Echocardiography/Noninvasive Cardiologist to join our existing 35 member faculty at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level with a tenure track or fixed term appointment. For candidates who prefer non-academic tracks, we offer an excellent financial package. The candidate will be responsible for a variety of administrative responsibilities including the establishment of peer review programs for echocardiography, maintaining consistency of procedures and interpretation of results in the Graphics and Echo labs, establishment of physician role responsibilities and requirements, development and implementation of policy, procedures, etc. The school of medicine focuses on outreach programs, general consultation in both the outpatient cardiovascular clinic and a Women’s Cardiovascular Health Clinic. The school of medicine will lead in the opening Of the new Heart Institute, a partnership between the school of medicine and the hospital. The opening of the 120 bed, free standing state-of-the-art heart hospital is projected to open in January of 2009. In addition, a comprehensive cardiovascular outpatient facility and 50,000 square foot of research and cardiology office space will open late 2008. This position is an immediate opening.
