Position Description
About the Position. The Chief Privacy Officer is an exciting opportunity in our Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania office for a professional to lead privacy related activities for our operating companies throughout the Americas region, and participate in the development and implementation of privacy policy and strategy globally. Responsibilities include working with:
• IMS business leaders to develop and integrate privacy strategy and policy into commercial strategic plans and day-to-day business activities. Promote a comprehensive framework to organize and guide the IMS organization with respect to good privacy practices.
• commercial, operations, legal and compliance teams to develop and implement policies, standard operating procedures, and other safeguards to ensure compliance with all applicable privacy laws, contractual provisions and other IMS privacy requirements.
• legal and compliance teams to develop communications and training for employees, contractors, clients and suppliers that clearly define requirements and expectations related to privacy matters.
• colleagues around the world to address trans-border data flow issues and public policy issues relating to privacy; share best privacy and security practices.
• customers, suppliers, vendors, alliance partners and others to (a) share information about relevant requirements and practices, and (b) address privacy-related questions and concerns.
• legislators and staff, government agencies, policy organizations, researchers, health care providers, industry and others involved in public policy issues relating to privacy and the IMS business, including: secondary uses of data; the balance between privacy and transparency; the role of information to improve health care; appropriate safeguards to secure sensitive information; mitigating re-identification risks associated with data; standards for breach notification; privacy protection for personal information versus professional information; and other relevant issues.
Requirements. Motivated privacy professional with 5+ years of corporate privacy experience and 10+ years of overall privacy, business or other relevant experience. Must be able to solve problems creatively and align with business objectives, while inspiring trust and facilitating collaboration with colleagues, clients and others. Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines is required. Successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communications skills, good judgment, client service skills, conceptual thinking skills and pragmatism. Preferential consideration will be given to candidates with a computer science, pharmaceutical, healthcare or life science background. Ability to communicate in Spanish, French or Portuguese is helpful, but not required.
