SCAN Health PlanMichelle Hokr, 818-597-8453, x-5

announced today that Affinity Medical Group has joined the health plan’s provider network, effective January 1, 2013. As a result, SCAN members in the South Bay will have access to an expanded network of primary care and specialty physicians.

In addition, SCAN members in Santa Clara County will continue to have access to Santa Clara County IPA (SCIPPA) as well as three hospitals in San Jose – Good Samaritan Hospital, O’Connor Hospital and Regional Medical Center – and Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy.

Unlike most health plans, SCAN has no commercial members, which allows it to focus all of its energy and resources on serving the unique needs of seniors and understanding them better. “We listen to our members and work hard to meet their wants and needs when it comes to their health benefits,” said Tim Schwab, MD, chief medical officer for SCAN Health Plan. “That is why we are particularly pleased to announce our expanded network in Santa Clara County. It provides seniors with even more choice, and we know that is important.”

Affinity Medical Group is owned by University HealthCare Alliance, a premier healthcare network of high-quality community physicians sponsored by Stanford Hospital & Clinics.

For more than 35 years, SCAN Health Plan has been focusing on the unique needs of seniors. Further information may be obtained at .
