CMS releases 2015 Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued its 2015 Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule late Thursday. The rule is set to be published in the Federal Register on July 11.

The proposal rule includes changes to relative value units for calendar year 2015 and also adds procedures to the telehealth list, creates a process for added transparency in developing payment rates, and issues provisions related to implementing separate payment for chronic care management services.

In addition, the 608-page rule proposes changes to the ambulance fee schedule regulations, the Physician Compare Website, the Physician Quality Reporting System, the Medicare Shared Savings Program, the Value-Based Payment Modifier and the Physician Feedback Program.

The agency will accept comments on the proposal through September 2.
